In memory of

Hailey Marie Kane

2000-2018

An active teenager who loved music, drama, and baking, Hailey died without medical acknowledgement of her Lyme disease, although alternative testing indicated it was fully present in her body.

She experienced heart failure at age 7 and again at age 17 and suffered in ICU for months before her tragic and untimely death. For a decade, she fought through longterm, complex health issues.

After her death, Hailey’s organ tissue was studied at a university lab, and it was determined she had an advanced case of Lyme disease. Borrelia bacteria had invaded all her major organ tissues, including her brain.

Hailey’s suffering and traumatic death was undeserved.

Many Canadians today are also suffering with symptoms of Lyme.

Chances are, you know someone!

We ask you to contribute to Lyme Disease research in Canada by making a donation to the registered charity Canadian Lyme Disease Association (CanLyme). You can donate on their website, and receive a donation receipt for tax purposes.

As a flower farmer who loves the outdoors, I know that I am vulnerable to getting an infected tick bite and Lyme disease too, as are many Canadians who love to spend time in nature.

Consider a one time or monthly donation in honour of Hailey.

Please mention Hailey Kane in your donation.

Thank you for making a difference!

If you have been bitten by a tick, there are some steps you can take:

  • Carefully remove tick, intact if possible

  • Save the tick and send it by mail for testing for Lyme bacterias to Geneticks, a lab in Uxbridge, Ontario. They will let you know the results within a short time.

  • Consult with a pharmacist or medical professional for possible antibiotic treatment
