Canadian Growers Class- Forcing Winter Tulips
Learn how to grow and sell tulips in the depth of winter.
Looking for a way to extend your growing season?
Join our in person class especially designed for Canadian small scale flower farmers!
Fresh local tulips for Valentine’s? International Women’s Day? Easter? I say yes!
We have been forcing tulips for several years, both in the basement of our house and in our heated greenhouse.
We harvest tulips for 16 consecutive weeks from late January to Mother’s Day!
You can do this too!
Come for a day at our greenhouse and tour our farm!
We force 10 to 15 thousand tulips a winter, and harvest from mid January until Mother’s Day.
I will show you exactly how we do it!
You will hear the story of how we got started, and why we keep doing this.
You will get to explore our set-up and property.
You will meet other growers and be inspired.
You can enjoy some good eating in our passive solar greenhouse, and if it is cold, we will have the woodstove going.
We will cover different details of tulip growing such as:
Choosing varieties
suppliers
shipping costs
planting
labelling
crating
cold storage
cold weeks
cold storage
watering
root formation
rodent & disease control
harvesting
pricing
Let’s have a good day chatting about winter tulips and enjoy getting to know other growers from across the country!
This course is especially for Canadian growers, particularly for ordering bulbs and sourcing materials. We have had participants from coast to coast in our online course.
The course will run again Autumn 2026; date to be determined. Signing up now guarantees your spot. I will reach out with more information and details in late summer.
There is no refund for this course, but a missed session can be honoured at a later date, or transferred to another person. Please notify me if you cannot attend.
